Welcome from Headteacher, Danine Smith

Welcome to Chesterton Primary School. We are an Ofsted graded ‘Outstanding’ two form entry inner city primary school situated in the heart of Battersea, South West London. At Chesterton our vision is to nurture great learners. We are committed to supporting children to meet their full potential for their futures, allowing all children to shine. Everything we do is under pinned by our three school values: pride, resilience and kindness. With the support of our community, we aim to provide children with the knowledge and skills needed to allowed them to flourish as they grow.

The curriculum has been planned to allow time for children to think, discuss, practise, explore and embed learning, to ensure opportunity for depth of knowledge throughout. Within this website you’ll find news and information about all aspects of Chesterton life; from our range of outdoor learning spaces, our approach to the curriculum as well as our whole exciting curriculum offer.

We are a UNICEF Rights Respecting Gold award school which holds the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at its heart. Our rich curriculum empowers pupils to be active, global citizens and develop a participatory approach to their world. Learning through rights allows our pupils to cultivate positive relationships with both peers and adults, supporting their education for life.

We are excited to be a part of the Wandle Learning Trust allowing us to share expertise and resources across a growing number of schools. In addition to this, our school leads the Wandle Teaching School Hub, the South West London Maths Hub, the Wandle English Hub and the Wandle Early Years Hub. We are incredibly proud of the role we played in developing Little Wandle Letters and Sounds (a validated SSP). The programme has been highly successful both in our school and nationally.

Whether you’re an existing Chesterton parent, a new parent looking for the right school for your child or a teacher looking for your next career move, I hope you find everything you need. If you have any questions about the school, or suggestions for any further information you’d like to see on the website, please contact us. We run regular open days and if you’d like to visit the school at any other time please call the school office to make an appointment.
